Praying with Paul: Using the Apostle’s Prayers To Guide Our Own
Author: Dr. James Simoneau – PCA
We often do not know what to pray, how to pray, or have the words to pray. But God not only intercedes for us (Rom. 8:26; Heb. 7:25), He also has given us the Lord’s Prayer and the prayers of saints throughout Scripture to use.
In this devotional prayer journal, Praying with Paul, Dr. James Simoneau uses prayers of the apostle Paul to lead and guide us in the practice of incorporating scriptures to shape our prayers. Meditations on each of the forty-two prayers begin with the prayer goal and a brief commentary on Paul’s prayer. Then, Paul’s prayer is given. Next, are questions to guide one’s consideration of the prayer and the author’s prayer that follows. The author has recorded his own prayer based on the passage as an example of how to write a prayer incorporating the scripture passage. At the end of his prayer are a few questions and space to write for readers to record their own prayers.
