Having served 60 years, in four committees and agencies of the RPCES and PCA combined, Teaching Elder Richard Aeschliman was called home to glory on September 7, 2025.

Richard Aeschliman was a graduate of Covenant Theological Seminary and served two pastorates in the Reformed Presbyterian Church, Evangelical Synod (RPCES) before returning to the seminary to work in public relations. He went on to serve as the Director of Development for the RPCES North Presbyterian Missions. Upon the Joining and Receiving in 1982, Aeschliman relocated to Atlanta and quickly assumed the position of Program Administrator for the Committee on Christian Education and Publications, CEP (now CDM).

Aeschliman was a diligent student of the Word as well as a faithful overseer who led with a steady hand and godly temperament. In his role at CEP, he traveled around the PCA working with local church sessions and diaconates providing leadership training and stewardship education. He consistently reminded the elders to shepherd the flock, “not domineering over those in [their] charge, but being examples to the flock”. (I Peter 5:3)

He also oversaw the resource ministries of CEP including the PCA Bookstore, Publications, and wrote The Grace of Giving: Biblical Principles of Generosity and Wealth and many other stewardship resources. Before streaming video was even imagined, Aeschliman was instrumental in bringing a wealth of video resources into churches when he created the PCA’s Video Lending Library. This ministry served over 250 churches for 15 years, bringing the likes of R.C. Sproul, James Dobson, Richard Pratt and many others into the discipleship ministries of local churches.

Upon his retirement from CEP, Aeschliman also partnered with Mission to the World’s Medical Missions program—continuing his legacy of service to the denomination he so dearly loved.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Richard Aeschliman’s memory to the Committee on Discipleship Ministries (CDM).
